WHO IS LIZZIE?

lizzie -- that is, elizabeth bennet -- is the second oldest daughter of five in a once-aristocratic english family of declining wealth, in the early 19th century. culturally speaking, her window for getting married is quickly closing, but she has far more interest in reading, wandering the moors, and goofing around with her sisters than in men and tradition (much to her mother's dismay). in large part thanks to her well-read and loving father, she is audaciously strongwilled and outspoken, with a sharp biting wit. she is also, as a consequence, the "prejudice" represented in the story of pride and prejudice, in that she comes to a series very unsympathetic conclusions about darcy and his personality/motivations that, after endless arguments, misunderstandings, and mockeries, eventually she comes to realize are untrue; such is her character arc, culminating in a romance with darcy in which both understand and love each other deeply.

keira knightley (born 1985) is a british actress, known best in the united states in her roles in both pride and prejudice as elizabeth, and in pirates of the caribbean as another elizabeth! she's been taking roles on and off since the early 90s, as well as lending her likeness to various fashion and beauty brands of high prestige.

outside of her acting career, she is known as an outspoken advocate of feminism and human rights, raising money for such causes as research into a cure for spinal muscular atrophy and covid 19 relief.

i, among many others, find her devastatingly beautiful, and equally smart and skilled as an actress.
