- write plain text files (2022) - derek sivers
- an essay on the benefits of doing all your writing (short and longform, private and public, words and code) in plain .txt, instead of in microsoft word or other commercial word processing programs
- 358/2 days and the experience of time (2017) - carol grant
- this essay is hard and anguishing if you relate to the experience it describes but that's what also makes it highly compelling. it's about depression, dante's inferno, and one of the lesser appreciated but more artistically cohesive kingdom hearts games
- the theory that men evolved to hunt and women evolved to gather is wrong (2023) - cara ocobock and sarah lacy
- a relatively brief but well researched, evidence-packed article debunking the widespread theory of male superiority in the social hierarchy being based in evolution. that is, the authors prove that all humans have the same average athletic capabilities regardless of sex, but estrogen-based bodies might be more suited to endurance activities, and testosterone-based bodies might be more suited to short bursts of activity. however, they take the time to also explain that sex is not binary and there are always exceptions, because nature loves diversity. i love this article.
