testing! testing! ^o^/ i just wanted to see how i could go about making a blog on my neocities, since i see it as a common feature of other neocities sites. for now i'll leave it as simple looking as this til i figure out how to customize this html and fancy it up like my other pages. eventually, if possible, i would love to have goodies in the format like current reading/watching/playing, eating/drinking, mood, etc, like the old days on deviantart and gaiaonline! that aspect of journaling is almost more interesting to me than the actual diary entry part. actually, maybe i can just do that manually until i figure it out?
edit: so i thought i'd come back and journal a little further. i'm pretty rusty at coding and it's a bit of an obstacle to me making progress on this site but on the bright side, my desire to make that progress is stronger than the intimidation i feel by the task. i've added several new pages today and updated old ones. i made this blog, got started on the aqua shrine, added a bunch of fanlistings, and added more navigable links where needed. i'm satisfied with my work for one day. tomorrow (or later, idk) i'll refine some visual aspects, like aligning color palettes a little better. but for now, i'm gonna read some shoujo, or play a video game. not sure which. i'll also work on getting my room clean. maybe not in that order.

today i think i'd like to make a page that lists my favorite media in visual form, like book, video game, and album covers. we'll just have to see how tricky that is to do from scratch with rusty memory of how html works, lol. eh, shouldn't be any harder than the aqua shrine page i set up yesterday, though.
edit: done! it's still in its uh... nascent stage right now, but i've set up the basic skeleton and that's good enough for now. i just need to revisit my real life bookshelves to remind myself what my favorite books are. adhd object permanence and all that. it's also gonna take a long damn time to do a section on video games unless i get REALLY choosy, which is just not in my nature. i like to include as much as i possibly can bc i love so many things. oh well! ^__^ i don't have to get it done on any sort of time limit, but it does bother me to see a clearly unfinished page that i have specific plans for. i have to remember to take breaks and pace myself rationally.

so i have a couple ideas for what to do today. i could make more progress on the library, since i've got that rolling, and/or i could work on my favorite characters (aka "shrines") page, since it needs some updating with more favorite characters. then i can stare at them neurodivergently. i'm not entirely sure what else i ought to work on at the moment, so let's just start there. i'm still not in the mood to get started on a profile page so. not todaaaaaaay~
edit: so i added ds/3ds games to the library, and threw a few decorations onto the aqua shrine. forgot to mention that i scoured my graphic source last night for relevant gifs to pretty up the page. still very much in a state i'm not satisfied with yet, but it's slowly coming into focus. i ran out of steam after that though, so i'll take a break. i might get back to it today but i won't push it. it's the weekend and i'm feeling lazy. can't decide if i'm gonna play the PWAA trilogy on switch, avalon code on ds, or emulate super smash bros melee. i'll probably end up doing at least one of those today though!

hiiiiiiii i overhauled this page just for fun, because i wanted div layer practice. i know it doesn't match the rest of my site now, but that's ok. my website is a patchwork quilt made with love. maybe i'll do my about page in this style, rather than a myspace style template.

i. kind of want to revamp other pages now that i did such a satisfactory job changing this one into a div layer formatted page instead of tables. i'm not sure, though. i kind of don't want to abandon the classic 90s tables, but i like them equally as much as 00s div layers. idk how i can mesh them both cohesively.
well, actually maybe the thing i can do today is put together a little about page using a similar layout and technique to the one i used here? hmmmm, i'm already coming up with some ideas... i just need to think of a good visual motif to base it around. my mind automatically drifts to aqua kingdomhearts but i already have a page based on her. i'll keep racking my brain on that. i think that'll be the goal today.
edit: WELL! that was an easier project than anticipated. i'm not 100% satisfied with it yet but i think it's a decent start. i wish i were better equipped to make compelling graphics. i'm thankful i have at least what i do have at my disposal (which is just pixlr, a browser based image editing application). but i lack the keen eye and skill the webmasters of the past had. guess i'll just keep practicing and studying what i like about others' work.
in the near future i'd like to update my interests to include silent hill and the other things that recently re-entered the hyperfixation space of my brain. idk if that means adding characters to the shrine page, or looking for/making graphics for the collection page, or what else. i at the very least do have silent hill 2 in the library, so it's better than nothing.

edit: HAHA... the power of hyperfocus carried me for several hours. i was able to do lots of little things to spruce up the visuals of this website, in addition to those headshots i'd planned. my ability to turn illustrations into transparent PNGs is questionable but at the very least serviceable. i think i'll call it a day here.

HIIIIIIII I WAS GONE A LONG ASS TIME HUH. just slowly updating little things here and there as i shift my mind back into coding mode. i'm a bit rusty, as will happen when you go a year without practicing a skill. but i've got big plans! well, not BIG big. but plans. this website will start improving again!
edit: actually i should probably specify here (mostly for my own benefit) that i mean to replace many, if not all of my pages, with div layer layouts. they function much better in all browser window sizes and even seem to work acceptably on mobile? and they would help to give the website a more cohesive feel. it's just gonna take me a bit of work to make all the graphics needed. but it could make for a fun project once i have more time. i am in the middle of a semester of grad school right now (which i feel like i keep saying over and over everywhere i go......sorry i can't i'm too busy i'm a grad student......but c'est ca and all that. summer will come eventually)
also, among my other tasks (which i do already have written down in the future updates page) are making a 88x31 button for my site, installing some new widgets, and, once i do the div layers thing and my site's jank makes me feel less self conscious, joining webrings. then once i have a community, i'll have more buttons to put on my links page under the neighborhood category! that section is pretty sad right now, but at least it's not empty

got some stuff in mind to do today, as usual! so, it occurred to me that when i overhaul the code on my library page from tables to div layers, i could also keep little sections next to each main section for media to-be-read/watched/played? it could be really fun to see all that stuff laid out in that way, even if it's not necessarily interesting to the random viewer.
secondly, i've got a few things to dump and link in the graphic collection so i can stick them on various pages.
thirdly, .......there is no thirdly. i think i need to split my focus today between fun website stuff and necessary school stuff. but if that changes, then i might do something about the janky index page. whenever i see it on my dashboard i cringe at how it doesn't show up in the thumbnail the way it looks in my browser. guess that needs the div layer treatment as well after all. be back with updates if/when they happen!
edit: AWRIGHT! i had a pretty productive day! both in terms of getting that pesky schoolwork done and in taking on one of the bigger projects here on this website. i overhauled the library from tables to div layers, as i said. i tried to implement the to-be-read idea into the layout design but it didn't quite fit. maybe someday when i do a library 3.0 page i'll plan better to include it, haha.
the day's still not done so maybe i'll tackle the index page? also, it occurred to me that i ought to have a sitemap (even though i have few pages right now, it's not a bad idea to set one up now while it's relatively simple). we'll see how much i can get done before i pass out tonight
edit 2: ok ok ok one more thing. i'm about to go to bed so that means no more tweaking and overhauling til tomorrow. but i wanted to make note of the concept of making like. a potpourri page? that is, a page where i collect the miscellaneous pages i make that aren't really all that interesting to a wide audience, nor do they fit my site's broader themes and aesthetic. so, the potpourri page is listed on the nav page, but the potpourri page is just a sub-directory to the pages that become too random for the main nav page. already there are two pages on the nav page (g3 pony wishlist and unicorns are for beginnings) that i refuse to just get rid of bc i like having them, but i also won't give them an overhaul to match the rest, and their subjects are too inane to stay where they are. i'm talking in circles here overexplaining my idea. i just want to make sure my fully awake brain understands my vision tomorrow ghshdfhsdhgsh

happy sunday! threw in some more tweaks here and there, and implemented a potpourri page like the one i struggled to explain out of brain fatigue yesterday lol. looking good so far! i'm thinking my next project should be to convert my graphic collections into multiple pages for digestibility. a page for fanlistings, a page for blinkies, a page for adopties, a page for quiz results, and a page for all the miscellaneous graphics. then i tie them all together with a "collections" directory, like with the potpourri page. no idea if i have the guts to jump into that today or if i wanna take a break for the rest of the day. for now i'll just enjoy the fruits of my labor a bit

i remembered earlier this morning that when i first made this website i had an idea to make a page that was basically themed after my ideal wizard's tower. just noting this down so i don't forget again! i don't plan on making any updates today because it's the start of a new school week btw, but i'll see where the day takes me.
edit: so i didn't make any headway on that idea but maybe i should put it on the future updates page so i don't forget. instead pretty much all i did was add a movies section to the library and put one more link on the links page. not upset about the relatively small progress, it's more than i expected to happen today. maybe tomorrow i can update the video game section to include pc games; i put together a running list of pc games i like, even though it's not really my platform of choice when i have a choice, lol. it'll just be the games that didn't give me a choice. i'm just worried about finding uniform "cover" sizes, since a lot of them are digital downloads. maybe i can make "thumbnail" images that link to the full image and keep things visually neat and tidy that way?

wow, what a day. managed to set up a gallery last night with many thanks to melon's gallery maker, but came up against a roadblock when i tried to add onto it with more albums. took hours to find a solution because i had found an entirely new error that melon didn't have a solution for! wowee. i spent the rest of the 7 hour period scrambling to understand programming languages, wrestle with uncooperative command prompts, and finally trying to manually do what i was trying to get a program to do for me, which may have been more time and effort, but at least it got me where i wanted. anyway. not gonna touch it for a while. i'm gonna let it be, it's fine as it is right now. and i'm a little bit proud of myself! and thankful to melon for being patient with me as i requested their assistance. i hope the bug report our efforts generated is helpful to them, and that nobody else has to go through the weird inexplicable problem i had!
edit 1: OH forgot to mention i've been putting many tweaks all over the site throughout the day, the main ones being 1) back buttons to each page, and 2) an extra goals list for my plans page. had to pass the time somehow as i waited on program processes and tech support emails

been a few days since i made any major changes to the site. ironically once i had a whole week to do all the fun stuff i wanted to.........i couldn't find the inspiration or motivation. -_-; but now i'm back to being busy with schoolwork and now, of course, i'm buzzing with excitement to work on the website again. is it because my schoolwork keeps my brain high energy? anyway. i have a few ideas bopping in the back of my mind (a POTS info page, a "what's in my bag" kind of page, a good idea for the graphic collections overhaul using javascript...) so we'll see what i can manage in between pomodoro sessions.

FINALLY got my collections page overhaul done! it was weird to not follow the same div layer-centric design philosophy but i just didn't see that working out very elegantly. i'll likely change my mind on it eventually though. but for now it's a relief to have that page closer to where i want it!

forgot to report on recent changes! it keeps happening bc i code late into the evening and then just go straight to bed afterward, completely braindead. anyway, two days ago i threw together a page for me to write journal entries in-character as my DnD character as the upcoming campaign progresses. it's nothing special, mostly silly and simple. yesterday, i was inspired by another person's site that had a corkboard themed page with a bunch of widgets on it that change daily and wanted to try to do my own thing with it. i think it looks pretty cute! it's not perfect yet, but it turned out better than i was expecting. i had trouble with embedding widgets before, so i'm not sure what i did differently this time that made it work. oh well. in any case, i'm fresh out of ideas for now so i don't think i'll be updating anything else for the time being. i have to-do items on the future plans list, but no great ideas on how to execute them yet. i'm waiting for inspo to strike :3c

right, so! last night, as usual, i spent an entire afternoon and evening coding and then went to sleep without updating my blog to say what i did exactly. last night i overhauled my aqua shrine (again...) and i'm now the happiest i've been with it so far. let's see how i feel in 48 hours, lol. but yeah no i think this is much closer to the level of quality i feel is appropriate for a character as important to me as aqua. i learned a lot about css grids in the process, so it's a win/win. i hope i can find ways to implement grids into other projects!
in addition, i'm working on joining cliques. just sent out the first round of applications and i made a section for it on my collections page. once i get those all wrapped up neatly i'll get over my shyness and apply for some webrings to put on my index page ^__^ what i like about mini-cliques tho is that there is no application process. you just put the code on your page and boom. sure, you don't become part of a connected list, but people can see that you have that little badge and go "hey, neat!"

strange day so far. weird, intense weather took out my electricity and internet for a while. we have it back for now, but the storm is still approaching (nice devil may cry reference lol), supposedly. we should be receiving a foot of snow by this time tomorrow (now it's quarter past 1pm)
but that's beside the point of this entry, which is to report that i've been working on updating my essay section! i added a new (old) essay and reformatted them both (that is, including the unicorn thesis essay) to have margins that make them easier to read.
i also added the two sections to the majimako shrine yesterday that i said i would, and things are looking good there! it's maybe my top favorite page on the site so far :^) i just need to put my feelings about the ship to words and describe my yakuza wife au and the page will be perfect
plus, i added a section in my collections page for badges. i thought it might be fun to start collecting those! i already have a few in there now
anyway. those are all the little things i've been working on. i hope we keep our power and internet if/when i come up with more ideas to work on! fingers crossed!

hiiiiiii! the semester is finally over! i only have about two weeks of vacation time because i have summer classes coming up but i intend to do as much as i can to work on this site in that time ^__^ firstly i mean to complete the keira+lizzie shrine and add it to the collection. after that i'll overhaul my collections page to be div based and nicer to look at. once that's done i'm thinking about re-doing my gallery. i can't update it due to an unknown error so i think my only option at this point is to start over. it's for the best though bc i'll have a better organization system this time. i just hope i don't delete everything and then make it worse! lol
